It’s Time to Get Outdoors

Spring is in full swing and it’s time to get outdoors for exercise, fresh air, and fun. Richmond Hill has so many opportunities for recreation, it’s hard to decide where to begin. Let’s get going!

A good way to start the morning is Richmond Hill Park (508 Timber Tr.). If you’re up for tennis, the park has four courts. Basketball or football more your thing? You’ll find two courts and two fields. And don’t worry if it’s a rainy day, the park boasts two indoor gyms, as well.

If you’d rather start the day with a hike, Henderson Park (500 Veterans Memorial Pkwy.) is ready to welcome you to its trails. You’ll also find a gym and sporting fields. Don’t forget this is where Bark Park is located, so you can bring along the canine members of your family for a free-range run.

The Richmond Hill Golf Club (53 Sterling Links Way) welcomes you to make your way from the 1st to the 19th holes, where you can enjoy a refreshing drink. Designed by local golf lover Ben MacMillan, it sits on the banks of the Sterling River in the heart of downtown Richmond Hill. Winding paths, playability, and beautiful landscapes mark this course as a perfect outing.

Calling all anglers to the Richmond Hill Wildlife Management Area (597 Kilkenny Rd.). Amberjack, catfish, and more are waiting for you to dip your line into the Tivoli River. Boating and canoeing are also popular here. For an interactive map of the area, go to https://georgiawildlife.com/richmond-hill-wma.

Richmond Hill’s “official” outdoor event space, J.F. Gregory Park (520 Cedar St.) is an inviting 335 acres of walking and biking trails, state-of-the-art playground, and a wide range of open spaces for picnics. You’ll spend the whole day here and feel the stresses and tensions evaporate.

There is so much more to do outdoors in Richmond Hill. We’ve just gotten started! When spring has sprung, the active life in Richmond Hill kicks off. See you on the trail!
